Contrary to its name, the English lavender is native to the Mediterranean but is now cultivated in all temperate climate zones where it blooms from late spring to early autumn. One of the most recognizable aromas it is a favorite for its sweet, relaxing, floral aroma, with a long history in traditional western herbalism. Thought to have many therapeutic properties, antiseptic and insect repellent qualities. Lavender flowers can be used interchangeably, some popular uses being as an addition to baths, used in teas or tinctures, added for a floral flavor to candy, desserts, baked goods, and some savory dishes.
