Great in soups, sauces, gravy, or anything else that calls for mushrooms. These chopped and dried shiitake mushrooms are quick and versatile. The Japanese name - shiitake (shee-tah-kay) is derived from “shii” meaning the shiia or oak tree on which they grow and “take” meaning mushroom.
Cooking Instructions:
- Briefly rinse in very cold water.
- Soak in a volume of warm water twice the volume of the mushrooms.
- Soak for 15-20 minutes.
- Drain and use as desired.
Mimi’s recommends retaining the drained water for use in stock, rice, etc.
